About us
Open-Air Medieval Theatre "DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre"- is a theatre of medieval Carnival Culture.
Three basic directions of our work are:
- Medieval spelling theatre (jugglers, musicians, acrobats, dancers, etc.)
- Belarusian and Baltic traditional Culture (folk games. folk dances, traditionally performed folk music)
- Blazing Fire-Performances.
"DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre" was founded in July of 2005.
"DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre" also makes researches in a field of Belarusian Authentic Culture. Particularly in Belarusian Dances,
Songs and Music.
Storytellers, Singers, Minstrels, Actors perform the traditional Belarusian and Baltic folk dances, legends and
songs. Use of traditional Flutes, Gusli, Medieval Bagpipes and other instruments brings a true Archaic
flavour to the performance.
"DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre" also performs mysterious and exotic Fire-Shows in archaic, European medieval
and modern style. First was our illustrious one-act straight fire-play "Sabbath", based on the novel
"Viy" by N. V. Gogol (performed in cooperation with dance group "Gistrion").
Our second big work - is Dramatic Fire-play "Alchemist"
Based on the poem of Johann Wolfgang Goethe "Erlkoening" It is the second big fire-play in Medieval style,
made by "DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre". Longs 30 minutes.
This performance was created and staged in may 2009. It was presented first time at festival
of fire arts "Kiev Fire Fest 2009" in Ukraine.
