This is the official site of the Open Air Medieval Theatre “DiGrease’s Buffoon Theatre”.
This site is meant for all the event organizers,
festival and entertainment managers or just a persons who would like to know a little bit more about Medieval Theatre, about Us and Our Work.
“DiGrease’s Buffoon Theatre” is an open air theatre of medieval carnival culture, of juggling and buffoonery, of Vikings and Slavs, of
music and dances, of acrobatic and fire, of acting and drama.
We are enthusiasts, but we want to make our bread by our work. But "DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre" is also doing shows
for free for our friends, for things we respect in cultural events, for political democratic actions and festivals against globalization,
inequality, social problems and for environmental protection and our future.

Open-Air Medieval Theatre "DiGrease's Buffoon Theatre"- is a theatre of medieval Carnival Culture.
Three basic directions of our work are:
- Medieval spelling theatre (jugglers, musicians, acrobats, dancers, stilt-walkers, etc.)
- Viking and Slavs Theatre (and also Belarusian and Baltic traditional Culture): folk games, folk dances,
traditionally performed folk music, Skhomorokhs, songs, etc.
- Fire-Performances, the best in Belarus and other countries.

The last Concert Tour in 2010
After the greatest in Poland "Wolin Slavs and Viking Festival 2010", where we performed our usual
Archaic Dances Workshops, and after our International Ethnographic and Dance Camp "Nothern Wind 2010" we are at home at last.
It was really hard and hot to play bagpipe on a stilts, stepping in front of Opening Parade.
And Now we are ready to our last tour of 2010 - to Germany and France.
It will be "Festival mediaval III" - very big festival of Medieval Music, Theatre and Fire. See You!

Our first tour of 2010 was really cool! the greatest Medieval Festival of Denmark, and two
small and cute festivals in Germany - we love ot.
We are at this moment in Norway, within the 2nd big concert tour of 2010, we are making a
Viking-Performances and Fire-Performances mostly.
We love Norway! Such a frendly people, such an interesting events! The only thing - there is no real dark
time in Norway on summer - all the nights are light! So we are learning, how to do the fire-performances this way!
Next will be the folklore festival "Treepilske Kolo" in ukraine and street-theatre festival in Hungary.

New Performances, new big concert tours!
Long, hard and productive Winter Repetition season beared results: We had finish a new Medieval
performance "Ad Mortem Festinamus". It is a five-acts spectacle, based on French Medieval farces and wall painting from
Basel cloister, and integrated with public dance workshops. Looks very good, and we will soon test it on Real Public! 8)
We are going to 5 concert tours this summer. The biggest one - is in Norway in June. Four festivals, and a lot of
busking between the festivals. It must be really funny! 8)
We are waiting for it impatiently...

Amazing Festival-Mediaval
We are all still have our head in the clouds... We just return from the Great German
Festival-Mediaval, the festival of medieval music, arts and crafts.
It was the biggest Medieval Music Festival in Europe this year.
A lot of positive emotions, a lot of great people. We made there the Theatre Performances at different places during a day.
And, of course, we showed our Fire-Performance. Good work. Ok. Now we are at the Biskupin
Archeological Museum, making the Dance workshops, Musical Instruments, Singing, etc. Our Concert Tour Season is coming to end.

Our Big Viking Tour
All our group are now in Wolin, Poland, leading the Dance Workshops on a big Wolin Viking and
Slavs Festival, Poland. This festival is more than 10 years old, and really big. But 3 days earlier we took part in
even bigger event - in a Viking Festival "Fornforeningen Fibula" in Aland, Finland.
Really interesting festival!
On the way back we visited 5 different European and Asian countries for 24 hours: Finland (till 2:00), Estonia (till 12:30),
Latvia (till 15:30), Lithuania (till 18:30) and Russia (till 24:00). We spent more than 5 hours on Russian (only Russian)
border. We hate Russian bureaucracy! We are happy, but it is not enouth!

First Performances in Hungary!!!
We have just get back from Hungary, where we made our performances at
Week of the "Winged Dragon" - 17th International Street Theatrefestival. It was very interesting and big event, a
lot of new expressions, etc...
But it is really hard to drive a car for 24 hours without stop...
Also 2 weeks ago we had the full of adventures visiting of the Medieval festival in Querfurt, Germany.

Premiere of our second Fire Play "Alchemist"
At last we have finished the staging of our new Fire Play "Alchemist", inspired by the
German poem 'Erlkonig' by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The first performance of the play took place at the International
Festival of Fire and Performing Arts "Kiew Fire Fest 2009", Ukraine.
This is a tragic story about the elderly scientist in medieval Europe. His daighter is deadly ill.
And he is trying different ways to rescue life of lovely daughter. He is trying religion and science, but nothing helps.
And he risk to use the last method, mysterious and dark.

First European Tour of 2009
Week ago we returned from our first tour of 2009. It was a big trip through Poland
(Opole), Czech Republic (Prague) and back to Poland (Byczyna and Kliczkow). Ten days of travelling and
performing, beautiful streets of Prague? beautiful castles of Poland...
Great Thanks to our friend Olga Gladysheva - she hosted us for two days in her hostel.
At the beginning of June we will perform the premiere of our second big Fire Play "Alchemist", inspired by the
German poem 'Erlkonig' by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
The premiere will take place in Kiew.

Photo- and Video-Sessions
The site is almost filled.
We are finishing our new programs: blazing Fire-Play "Alchemist", medieval one-act play "Ad Mortem
Festinamus" and New Renaissance Court Dance Program.
Yesterday and 2 weeks ago we organized two heroical photo-sessions. It was 2 hours on the snow,
2 hours of nipping frost, that we spent in our thin costumes. We tried to get warm by jumping on the place,
waiting every next entry... Thank all heroical photographers, cameramans and, of course, our artists!

Continue Constructing
More and more information on Our site every day... I have only 3 hours aday for work with our site.

it's not a big, but however it's a piece of work...
